My Grandfather's pride and joy. 1956. Massive 6-cylinder engine. "3-on-the-tree" transmission. Built like a tank and a battleship had a baby. And I was rarely trusted to drive it once I became street legal.
Trivia: No oil filter as standard equipment on these, but there were adapter kits available to install an "outboard" oil filter for the discriminating driver. One could then use a standard cartridge oil filter (NOT the screw-on type many of you are picturing)... or you could go the cheap hillbilly route and drop in a full roll of TOILET PAPER like Grand-Dad. TRUE! It fit like a glove and never gave us a day of trouble for 40 years!
