Please follow him today, so I have to listen to him moan about having no followers.

Random Thoughts Department:

1)  UK Comedy recommendation-of-the-month:
I don't know how this one got past me when it first aired, but 2 episodes into the DVD box set, I'm declaring this BBC mockumentary series as "The Spinal Tap of the 21st Century".  (YMMV)   See it.  NOW.

2)  It's beyond our mission statement here to provide comprehensive reviews of new releases, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to toss out a few titles getting a more rotation than usual in Uncle's office:

3)  Related to 2....  If you care... "Affinity" is a 2 CD set (fine so far)   where CD 2 is simply a 100% instrumental version of the regular album.   Otherwise, identical.    This seems to be a growing trend in the prog & metal worlds; Nightwish & Edenbridge did the same thing with their most recent studio efforts (and I'm sure there were a hundred more I missed).

Uncle doesn't really get this.   Now, I can see where A VERY SELECT FEW albums might benefit from this presentation.  (Nightwish, for sure. Pink Floyd? maybe...)  But personally I can't think of more than a handful of albums from my all-time 500 where I'd enjoy an instrumental version more (let alone as-much) as the original.

Led Zeppelin II sans Robert Plant?    Sabbath's Paranoid, Ozzy-free?    Queens' Night At The Opera with 0% Freddie Mercury?    I don't see the attraction.    Maybe it's a musician thing.  I can't say.

RANDOM THOUGHTS DEPARTMENT:

1) Remember what I said about our show pages on SPREAKER & MIXCLOUD?     They look like they're losing weight, don't they?

2) The question has been asked: "How much longer is this whole extended encore thing going to last?"

The answer: There are 2 real reasons I'm running the entire show library over again since I pulled the plug on new episodes back in February...

A) A not-small number of listeners wrote in, lamenting that the programme was canceled JUST after they'd finally discovered it's creamy goodness.   (You had 2 years to find it kids, what can I say?)

So... as a consolation prize to all the people who wrote in, I thought I'd throw them a bone in the shape all the good stuff they missed from the very beginning.    I'm a nice guy that way.

B) The eternal optimist in me thought that "maybe" I'd be able to resume doing my very heavy uncle thing later on in the year when certain aspects of my private life calmed the fuck down.   And... I thought it couldn't hurt to keep the brand name active (and the communication channels open) until we knew for certain one way or another.

I will say this: At current consumption, we will exhaust our second cycle of material a couple of weeks before Halloween 2016.     At that time, one of two things will happen - either I'll grit my teeth and pull a brand new Volume 53 out of my arse... or we'll pull a Radiohead and completely vanish from the interwebs.   But without a new single.   We don't know.

3) I've been a loyal, faithful Amazon customer for 16 years.   They get more of my disposable income than every other vendor combined.   And overall I've been extremely satisfied with the service.   And the customer service.   But those days are apparently over.

Amazon customer service on both sides of the Atlantic have been fucking with me for 3 straight days, and I have had enough!    Frustrated.   Insulted.  Disappointed.   Angry.   That's how Amazon has made Uncle feel.

I just can't conceive Amazon customer support failing on such a catastrophic scale, but I will say a LOT of it rests on the shoulders of their English-As-A-Third language support crew.   This week, I've set the record for saying "could you repeat that again, please?"   No more.

I hope eBay, Barnes & Noble and Best Buy can handle the uptick in business when Amazon gets served with divorce papers.   And if they don't pull their thumbs out SOON - it will happen.
